WSL have started work on their first project on behalf Uplands Retail Ltd at ASDA Wembley (Part of the Wal-Mart family).
The store at Wembley, one of ASDA’s 336 in total, is undergoing a major reconfiguration, including the provision of a 1000sq m mezzanine floor, which WSL are supplying and installing.
Upland Construction/ASDA operate an established preferred supplier/contractor system. To qualify for entry onto their supplier base applicants must provide evidence of their ability and competence to provide the services required. Additionally great importance is placed on contractors being able to work safely and in coordination with the other contractors, ASDA colleagues and customers. WSL were able to meet all of the criteria, and won the contract.
Through their principal contractor, Upland Construction and Rose Project services, ASDA measure the performance of it’s sub contractors on a weekly basis using benchmarks including performance to target, safety, cooperation, and communication,
The installation is being carried out in two phases, and in the first four weeks on the initial phase WSL scored a maximum four points (outstanding) in each week.
WSL’s Project Manager on the contract is Peter Marsh, who is based at our Towcester office, and great credit must go to him and our installation team for interpreting and meeting our client’s expectations.
Equally Peter acknowledges that our performance has been helped, to a large part, by the understanding and pragmatic approach of the Principal Contractor.
We appreciate that the project is very much “work in progress”. However we hope that we can further develop our relationship with all parties, to be involved in future developments as they arise, allowing us to give ASDA/Upland confidence that work will be completed professionally, on time and on budget.
