The Elite Group is an independent group of companies specialising in the Import and Export of garments and other merchandise. The group have significant distribution warehouses throughout the U.K. offering dedicated and shared user services. 

 Work has now been completed on a 3 tier mezzanine floor at 4800 Sq M per level at the new Elite Group warehouse in Wortley Leeds. The floors were fitted out with racking and shelving systems to accommodate existing and new customer demands. WSL also commissioned the installation of conveyor systems and a comprehensive sprinkler system. The contract value is in excess of £1 millon

Completion had to be achieved in phases to accommodate Elite’s customer requirements and due to a delayed start time WSL brought lead times forward, provided additional installation resources, and extended working hours to meet the necessary deadlines.

The project was managed by a small team from WSL, bringing together the required skill sets to bring the contract in, safely, on time and under budget. Few companies in the industry would have had the resources “in house” to achieve this.

Prior to this the team had designed, drawn, procured and arranged fabrication of all steel and materials required

An additional challenge for WSL was requirement to increase the size of the floor halfway through the original build period when the customer obtained additional business, requiring additional space. This meant adding an additional bay around the entire floor. The original floors were still required to be operational on the due dates, so a detailed Health and Safety plan had to be designed to allow customer and contractors to work together safely.

The excellent relationship between customer and supplier was evident as both sides and their respective project managers worked hard to achieve the build with a minimum of disruption to the business, and yet maintaining the required Health and Safety Plan.

Mention should also made of the fantastic service levels provided by WSL’s suppliers, from installation teams to fabricators, fixing, decking and steel suppliers. All of whom worked under extreme duress to meet the very tight deadlines set by us.
