Wakefield based logistics company H I Group are expanding their capacity with a brand new 250,000 square foot warehouse. H I Group specialise in electrical and white goods distribution and are the number one choice for many leading retailers. The new warehouse will be home to 26,500 pallet locations; 22,000 of them will be in wide aisles to allow picking, the remainder are located in Drive-In racks, seven locations high.
Warehouse Systems were able to help get the maximum capacity from the building by working with the architects to ensure structural steel work was in the ideal places to accommodate the racks. WSL sales director, Neville Proctor suggests all new builds should involve the storage supplier at the earliest possible stage. "With land so expensive it is essential to squeeze the absolute maximum out of a building. After all these places are being built to store product. It makes sense to think about the storage first and then put a building up around it."
