They knew they wanted cantilever racking in their newly made yard but wanted to be able to keep the timber dry. They found Warehouse Systems on the internet and faxed their own drawing to Clive Fawthrop, WSL’s senior contracts engineer, to ask for a quotation and ideas. They had thought of putting tops on all the racks but Clive improved the design by also spanning the aisles with a roof too. This had several benefits; deliveries that had been loaded the night before could be backed into the aisles and kept dry all night ready to be driven away in the morning and driving rain and snow was kept away from the merchandise in the racks. And by putting transparent sky lights into the steel sheeted roof plenty of light was still available for working.
Boden & Boys gave WSL the order and a team of installers was on site within weeks to build the cantilever and put up the specially made roof. Boden & Boys are delighted with the scheme and Clive was delighted with the very 21st Century order process. “We never even met” says Clive. “Boden & Boys used the internet to find us, faxed us the specification, we emailed our designs and modifications and spoke on the phone. Sometimes technology really does just work beautifully!”
