02 Aug WSL Gains Top Tier Industry Accreditations
At WSL, we like all our clients to feel confident that they are receiving products and designs that are of impeccable quality and safety. While WSL strives to give each customer a completely bespoke package, our primary priority is to provide products of outstanding quality with safety and resilience in mind. Therefore we ensure that we are at the top of our field in terms of the memberships, accreditations and regulations that we comply with.
At the beginning of 2017, WSL became full members of the Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA). Visit our members page here: SEMA
SEMA is vital to the industry, providing experienced guidance on industry standards and developing up-to-date regulations and best practice standards. The UK Health and Safety Executive offers little in the way of guidance for best practice in the design and construction of pallet racking and mezzanine floors. Currently most of their information directly references SEMA.
Ten companies – now including WSL – are at the top tier of the organisation, using their technical expertise in the design, construction and maintenance of pallet racking systems to advise and influence decisions about industry standards. WSL is the only one of the ten that are also a manufacturer of mezzanine floors, which means that we are perfectly placed to advise the industry regarding standards within the manufacture of mezzanine floors and relevant storage equipment. This means that we have the privilege and responsibility in being involved in the updating of existing rules, as the industry responds to changing technologies and new storage systems.
In addition to our membership of SEMA, we continue with a number of other industry standards:
- European Standards
All racking supplied by WSL is in line with Euro Safe standards, complying with CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
- Safe Contractor
We are also accredited by SafeContractor; one of the UK’s leading Health and Safety auditors. Their input allows us to regularly reassess our safety procedures, ensuring that we are in line with (and in many cases exceeding) all up to date Health and Safety practice.
- CE Mark
WSL is CE certified, which means that we can put the CE mark on anything we produce that is corresponding to its relevant European Union standard (in this case BSEN1090). British law has adopted EU directive BSEN1090 as an industry standard for steel work which relates directly to WSL work in both racking and mezzanine floors. This Health and Safety regulation, having been enshrined in UK law will continue to be applicable to all manufacturers of steel products after Britain leaves the European Union. WSL are the only company that have the CE mark for mezzanine floors and are also full members of SEMA.
